Integrative Psychotherapist & Supervisor
My counselling, psychotherapy and supervision services are offered at The Eaves Counselling and Psychology Ltd, Surrey's leading counselling and psychology practice, where I receive referrals for the Haslemere and Farnham clinics. In addition, I offer counselling in Guildford and West London at my private rooms.
I offer a wide range of counselling services, to meet the unique needs of each individual (18+) or couple. I take an integrative approach to counselling and psychotherapy, as well as evidence based therapies. Modalities include Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, DBT, Mentalisation Based Therapy, Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy and both short and long term arrangements to suit you. I am a qualified, registered and trained therapist, supervisor and relationship counsellor, with a depth and breadth of experience to ensure I provide appropriate, safe and ethical services.
Contact me for an initial 15 minute telephone consultation to help decide what you are looking for. I believe everyone has the potential to lead a fulfilling, meaningful and hopeful life.
I can help you manage your anxiety, trauma and depression or you may be struggling with work, home, family and relationship difficulties. Perhaps you have received a difficult age related or medical diagnosis, or suffered the loss of someone close to you. Are you feeling stuck in negative cycles, isolated or alone? Whatever you are struggling with, I am here to support you in safe and confidential spaces, with a very personal and individualised service. My best practice ethos, enables a safe and confidential setting to explore difficult feelings.
I hold a Diploma in Counselling Supervision and see therapists and trainee counsellors individually or in groups.
In Supervision I expect to cover Hawkins and Shohet/McMahon 7 Eyed Model and Inskipp and Proctor's Normative, Formative and Restorative Functional Model.
Supervision is a collaborative process of shared responsibilities between supervisee and supervisor. I aim to provide a safe and supportive environment to optimise the effectiveness of the therapeutic relationship. Supervision has an explicit purpose to maintain standards of ethical practice in supporting client need, as set out by the BACP Ethical Framework.
Supervision is a place to monitor and safeguard the interests of the clients by fostering self-awareness, competence and integrity in practice. It is also a space where we can develop the professional approach, and promote the welfare and development of the counsellor.
I qualified as a counsellor in 2001 completing a 2 year Psychodynamic Diploma and Counselling qualifications. I joined the WPF placement training in Kensington and Hampshire, historically, a gold standard of Psychodynamic therapy, for 5 years, and simultaneously returned to University of Surrey to complete a Bachelor of Science in Integrative Psychotherapy, (UKCP accredited) to develop my practice to other modalities and toward an existential phenomenological framework where I support client's current lived experience and their search for meaning. It enables a blended approach to include a variety of therapeutic models with the orientation that patterns of experiences often formed early in life, and childhood, are dynamically and unconsciously repeated in adult life.
I developed my approach further to work in a time limited way for 5 years at the NHS in an acute neurological unit, working with cognitively injured or impaired patients, and age related diagnosis and their families. I was offered training in CBT, and with Anna Freud and Relate programmes to inform my practice with couples and families further.
Following the closure of the service offered, I developed my own private practice to include this client group, as well as other individuals and couples and continue to enhance my couples practice further with Tavistock Relationships Training.
Following Covid I joined the Eaves as an affiliate, as part of a community of respected therapists and for best practice ethos and personal growth. I continue to work with a variety of client groups and began a MSc in Neuroscience Psychology to foster understanding of brain resilience (neuroplasticity) and mental wellness.
For competence, I recently qualified as a Supervisor and hold a Diploma in Counselling Supervision and see therapists and trainee counsellors individually or in groups.
